Toronto continues to be a popular destination in Canada, as evidenced by the record number of tourists that went to the city in 2017.
During the previous year, Tourism Toronto said that more than 43.7 million paid a visit to the city. More than 15 million people also spent a night in Toronto, either to witness the nightlife scene or simply stay for the sake of seeing the city.
Reasons for Visiting
Andrew Weir, Tourism Toronto executive vice president, attributed the huge number of tourists last year to several factors. Sporting events helped the city lure more visitors, as well as the bustling local music industry, Weir said.
News about Amazon’s potential plan to build a second headquarters in Toronto also improved its image as a tourist destination. Overall, the tourism activity in the previous year generated $8.8 billion for the local economy.
If you plan to visit the city to experience the nightlife, there are many good places to drop by. In fact, Le Cue Lounge noted that some of them are in nearby areas such as in Markham, where bars and lounges cater to different tastes.
Rules and Regulations
Like any other city, Toronto has its own sets of rules and regulations for partying at night. Take note that you may only buy alcohol during certain hours, while pubs and bars may also not serve beer and other alcoholic beverages after a specific time.
Those who plan to stay in the city for at least two months should try making their own beer or wine at specialty shops. This popular trend in Toronto lets tourists help in manufacturing their own beverage such as choosing the ingredients and the product labels.
Whether you plan to visit Toronto for a few weeks or even just overnight, there are many places to see that would make you want to stay longer when you come back.
